These M1903 Springfield rifles are collector-grade, bolt-action rifles manufactured by Springfield Armory in the United States and chambered in .30-06 Springfield. They feature low-serial-number receivers and interwar-period barrels dated from December 1918 through August 1939, with 24-inch barrels and flaming-bomb markings. The rifles are Curio & Relic eligible and are described as being in NRA Good or better surplus condition. Because of their low-serial-number receivers and collector status, they are intended for display or drill purposes only and should not be fired. Stock styles, barrel manufacturers, and the presence of sling swivels may vary from the photographs.
The M1903 Springfield was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1903 after the Spanish–American War exposed the shortcomings of the Krag–Jørgensen rifle. Based largely on Mauser designs, it featured a stronger action, stripper-clip loading, and the powerful .30-06 Springfield cartridge. The M1903 served as the standard U.S. service rifle during World War I and remained widely used in World War II, later continuing in sniper roles through the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Today, it is a highly respected military collectible and historic American service rifle.
Disclaimer - M1903 rifles manufactured in or before 1918 used receivers & bolts that received improper heat treatment insufficient to contain pressures generated by firing ammunition. These parts can be brittle & may fracture when fired, exposing the shooter to risk of serious injury or death.
Do not fire: Any Springfield Armory M1903 with a receiver serial number below approx. "800,000"; any Rock Island Arsenal M1903 with a receiver serial number below "285,508"; or, any bolt with a straight down handle profile (a known profile for low number bolts).
For safety, have the rifle inspected by a qualified gunsmith before use. These rifles are offered as collector's items only, for display or drill purposes & should never be fired.

- FACTORY NEW- all original parts; 100% original finish; in perfect condition in every respect, inside and out.
- EXCELLENT- all original parts; over 80% original finish; sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal and wood; unmarred wood; fine bore.
- FINE- all original parts; over 30% original finish; sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal and wood; minor marks in wood, good bore.
- VERY GOOD- all original parts; none to 30% original finish; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering, numerals and design on metal; wood slightly scratched or bruised; bore disregarded for collectors firearms.
- GOOD- some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned or reblued; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; wood refinished, scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.
- FAIR- some major parts replaced; minor replacement parts may be required; metal rusted, may be lightly pitted all over, vigorously cleaned or reblued; rounded edges of metal and wood; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal partly obliterated; wood scratched, bruised, cracked or repaired where broken; in fair working order or can be easily repaired and placed in working order.
- POOR- major and minor parts replaced; major replacement parts required and extensive restoration needed; metal deeply pitted; principal lettering, numerals and design obliterated; wood badly scratched, bruised, cracked or broken; mechanically inoperative; generally undesirable as a collectors firearm.
The process of grading and inspecting surplus firearms is very subjective and involves numerous details. We always try our best to be as accurate as possible, but we do not inspect firearms and rely on the rating provided by the importer. It is important with the nature of surplus firearms that it be thoroughly cleaned and inspected before use, preferably by a knowledgeable and trained Gunsmith.
