Polish Tantal DAG-13 CGTU Rifle, Chambered in 5.45x39mm is an amazing combination of classic looks and modern functionality. This custom creation came about through circumstance. The kits that were sourced for these builds contained some unusable parts. Making it impossible for the kits to be built into a historically correct rifle as is. Atlantic Arms teamed up with Definitive Arms to save those kits and tune them into the modernized Tantal, the Polish Tantal DAG-13 Rifle.

These rifles are loaded with features. Most notably, the DAG-13, 13 position adjustable gas block. This gives the user the ability to tune the gas system for suppressor use, environmental conditions, ammunition, cyclical rate and/or recoil management. This is a restrictive gas adjustment system, it does not vent extra gas. It will prevent surplus gas from getting into the gas system and action, resulting in cleaner operation and better sound reduction while shooting suppressed. To mount suppressors these barrels were threaded 7/16" x 28 by Definitive Arms. The 7/16" x 28 thread is small enough to fit under the factory muzzle device. Making the suppressor threads hidden while using the factory muzzle device. Included is a 7/16" x 28 to 1/2" x 28  thread adapter that you can use to mount suppressors using the common 1/2" x 28 thread. Once all the barrel work was completed the Atlantic Arms MFG team handled the final assembly, QC, Test Firing and Finish.

The Polish Tantal DAG-13 CGTU Rifle has the look and feel of the Original, with the Wire side folder stock, it's combination of surplus upper handguard & new US lower handguard, along with a US pistol grip. All metal surfaces have a top quality manganese phosphate base coat with Black Teflon paint top coat finish. Each Rifle comes with one US 30 round magazine, cleaning kit, removable bi pod, and oiler.

Please Note: CGTU Receiver, US Pistol Grip & Lower Handguard, Does not include cleaning rod . Each rifle is test fired & laser bore sighted during the build process to increase accuracy and minimize canting. Backed up by a 1 year Atlantic Arms MFG warranty .

-History-
Design work on this rifle officially began in 1984 at the government-owned Orodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy (OBR) in the city of Radom at the request of the Polish Ministry of Defense (the OBR institute had already been studying a possible 5.45mm weapon platform since late 1980). In 1985, the weapon’s parameters were confirmed and factory tests were conducted by the end of that year. In 1986 the first batch of prototypes was fabricated for evaluation and qualification testing.

These early prototypes, initially designated wz. 1981, were modeled on the Soviet 5.45mm AK-74 assault rifle and emphasized a high degree of parts commonality with the AKM rifle. As the weapon was intended to be able to launch rifle grenades, a newly designed, multi-functional muzzle device and a sturdier folding shoulder stock were used (the wire stock is a copy of the wire stock used on the East German MPi-KMS-72rifle).

By the end of 1987 the rifle was extensively overhauled and improved (among the changes made, a series of components were introduced that were meant to be interchangeable with the AK-74, including the bolt carrier, bolt, magazines and the burst fire mode was further refined). In January 1988, these product improved prototypes were again evaluated, and in 1989 the rifle was declared to have met its requirements, followed by an order for a pre-production batch, which was manufactured that same year. In 1990 the rifles were successfully evaluated and then transferred for final operational testing. In 1991 the rifle was introduced into service with the Polish Army as the 5,45 mm karabinek wz. 1988 (kbk wz. 88).
