These Mauser rifles were originally issued to front-line military units during active service. Following their primary deployment, many were transferred to police forces and reserve military units for continued use in auxiliary roles. In these secondary capacities, the rifles were often modified by their individual users—resulting in a wide variety of configurations. No two examples are exactly the same, reflecting both the practical needs and personal preferences of their handlers.  Common differences include bolt style, removal of sight hoods, missing or replaced buttplates, and significant variation in stock type and wood grain. These rifles reflect a practical, user-driven approach to maintenance and customization, with each example telling its own story of extended service and adaptation.

In 1924 and 1925, the Serbian Ministry of the Interior signed contracts with FN Herstal, Belgium which allowed the production of M24 series of bolt-action rifles chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser.  Model 1924 Mausers are intermediate action rifles with a large receive ring and a short action.  Physically they are similar to the K98 kurz "short", but more directly based on the Czechoslovakian vz.24 produced in the same year.  Like all derivatives of the original G98, its a bolt-action rifle with with a magazine capacity of five rounds chambered for the 7.92x57mm round.
