Russian RPD Rifle Kit-3. The Soviet RPD light machine gun was created in the second world war when the Red Army wanted to introduce a machine guns that could fire the M43 intermediate cartridge, which is used by the SKS carbine. After a series of competition trials, the RPD was selected as the winner. V A Degtyarev designed it and based its action on his successful DP light machine gun. Degtyarev was able to replace the DP 'pan' magazines with a belt-feed mechanism that used 100-round belts due to the lighter ammunition. This greatly increased the firepower potential of Soviet infantry units. These kits sport the ARROW in an OVAL at the top of the cover. This indicates that it was made in Russia's Kovrov Arsenal. The kits have several other interesting markings and can vary from kit to kit. These are super rare and collectable kits and have not been available in the US for quite some time. These were recently located tucked away in a warehouse here in the US and we were fortunate enough to be able to obtain a small number to offer to collectors. Kovrov symbol guaranteed other markings will vary NRA rated Good or Better. Sorry no special request offered. Kits missing cleaning kits, rifle bags, and mag bag
